Pom Pom Garland

I made this yarn pom pom garland for my son's forth birthday which is Batman themed. Most of the other decorations are black, silver, white and yellow and I thought this would add a nice pop of blue. I've seen some really cute yarn ball garlands AKA pom pom garlands in other colors. Some in a nice off white color hanging on a headboard or mantle, I think it gives a nice handmade touch to a room. I have also see multicolored pom pom garlands which are bold, colorful and cute for a more playful mood. Here's how I made mine!
Supplies:
Yarn
Scissors
Jute String (not necessary, you can also use the yarn as the string, but I am OBsessed with jute string!)
Instructions:
- HOLD THE YARN WITH YOUR THUMB IN YOUR LESS DOMINATE HAND
- WRAP THE YARN AROUND 3 or 4 FINGERS DEPENDING ON THE SIZE YOU WANT YOUR POM POM TO BE. I USED 4 BECAUSE I LIKE IT BIGGER.
- WRAP YARN AROUND 100 TIMES and CUT OFF THE REST.
- CUT A FOOT LONG STRING OF YARN, WRAP IT AROUND THE MIDDLE OF THE 100 YARN HOOPS
- TIE IT, THEN WRAP IT AROUND THE OTHER SIDE AND TIE IT AGAIN. THIS HELPS IT GET A NICE TIGHT FIT.(If it is not tight enough then the strings can start falling out)
- HOLD TIGHT TO THE TWO STRINGS HANGING FROM THE TIE, CUT THE LOOPS ON EACH SIDE.
- TRIM IT UP, IF YOU LIKE THE CLEAN CUT SHAPE, I LIKE BOTH DEPENDING ON THE PURPOSE. THE MAIN PICTURE IS A LOOSE BALL, WITHOUT TRIMMING. TO TRIM...HOLD TIGHT TO THE LONGER STRINGS SO THEY DONT GET CAUGHT.
- USE THE EXCESS YARN AND TIE IT AROUND THE JUTE STRING SPACED THE WAY YOU LIKE. I SPACED THEM 8 INCHES APART.
- TRIM THE EXCESS YARN FROM WHAT YOU USED TO TIE IT TO THE JUTE STRING.
- HANG IT UP and ENJOY! I love just looking at mine and admiring how cute it is.
