Hosting a Virtual Baby Shower

2:35 PM

This was a tricky project... I didn’t even know where to start. How do I host a party without pretty flowers, banners and party favors!? Here’s 5 ways we made a great virtual zoom Baby Shower.
1. Invitations on a Facebook Event. In the event description I was able include the Zoom link, meeting ID and password. I also linked the gift registry on Amazon.

2. Shared recipe for everyone to try. It could be a mocktail or in our case it was a favorite recipe of the soon to be mother. It was a frozen fruit salad. A perfect summer treat.

3. ZOOM Backgrounds. We created ZOOM backgrounds people could upload and put on their computer. I shared all the backgrounds on a FB post and a link to explain how to use them. Feel free to use these. I just made them on Canva.  Here’s how to upload them onto the Zoom account. https://www.owllabs.com/blog/zoom-virtual-background#change-zoom-background-desktop

4.Games. We decided on Pictionary and asked a couple (4) of people’s head of time, gave them a word and to be ready. The words we chose were supposed to be easy but not too easy! Here’s what we came up with... stroller, diaper, bottle, pacifier, crib, baby shower, rattle, car seat, changing table, high chair and baby food. Other possible games are charades, word scramble.

The virtual baby shower actually worked out well for us since we have a mother who is living in Australia and she was able to attend and celebrate. It was wonderful that everyone was able to join in across the nation and world and celebrate baby.

As the mother opened presents the giver of the gift gave words of advice to the mother. As the hostess, I wrote the advice down and I will make a scrapbook along with the screenshots I took of the party and everyone together.
